The Alabama Sports Foundation announced today that single session tickets are now available for the NCAA Women’s Gymnastics National Championship to be held at the Birmingham-Jefferson Civic Center in Birmingham, Ala., April 18-20. This marks the first year the NCAA Championship has been held in Birmingham.
“The community excitement and support thus far for this high-caliber event has already exceeded our high expectations,” stated Gene Hallman, executive director of the Alabama Sports Foundation. “With so many dominant college gymnastics programs within driving distance, and with Alabama’s recent SEC Championship win, tickets to the national championship are selling fast. Fans are encouraged to go ahead and purchase their tickets early.”
The 2014 NCAA Women’s Gymnastics National Championship will consist of 12 of the top teams in the country and 12 all-around competitors and event specialists. SEC teams have won nine of the last 12 NCAA national championships, with the University of Alabama winning six national titles including 2011 and 2012.
Four of the top six schools in the country are currently SEC gymnastics programs, including top ranked University of Florida, LSU (3), the University of Alabama (4), and the University of Georgia (6).
