Collegiate soccer returns to Alabama’s Gulf Coast with the 31st Annual National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Women’s Soccer National Championship from Dec. 1-6 at the Orange Beach Sportsplex. Players from 16 schools across the country are preparing to make an impact from intense match-ups to community involvement.
The driving force behind the NAIA’s vision is character-driven athletics. The Champions of Character program provides character building opportunities on and off the field, helping students find balance with five core values – integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship and servant leadership.
“The NAIA championship brings both a high level of athletic performance and a strong community outreach program for our local schools,” said Beth Gendler, vice president of sales for the Gulf Shores & Orange Beach Sports Commission. “Student athletes bring the NAIA Champions of Character program to Gulf Shores and Orange Beach Elementary Schools’ PE classes to teach them soccer skills and the basic core values of the program.”
Admission options to the championship include an all-tournament pass for $30 or a day pass for $10 for adults, and children will be admitted free with a paying adult. The first 100 fans to each game will receive a special rally prize at the gate. Each game will feature a halftime competition with two lucky fans competing for a grand prize. Prizes include free night stays and restaurant gift cards from the Game Day Sponsors – Brett/Robinson Vacation Rentals, Flora-Bama Yacht Club, Gulf Shores Rentals, Hampton Inn & Suites Orange Beach, Hurricane Grill & Wings, Kaiser Realty by Wyndham Vacation Rentals, Rotolo’s Pizzeria, Tanger Outlet Center, The Wharf and Young’s Suncoast Vacations Rentals.
