GSOBSC Announces Coastal Half-Marathon Run the Beach Series

Shed the turkey and start a Thanksgiving weekend tradition by participating in the Kaiser Realty by Wyndham Vacation Rentals Coastal Half-Marathon, 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run on Saturday, Nov. 26. This year’s race provides a special opportunity for fitness enthusiasts to sign up early for next year’s new Run the Beach three-race series and receive a handcrafted, logoed race medal holder. Run the Beach 2017 will include the Big Beach Half-Marathon (Jan. 29) followed by the Sea Turtle Half-Marathon (Feb. 18) and the Kaiser by Wyndham Vacation Rentals Coastal Half Marathon (Nov. 25). 

Online registration for the 2016 Kaiser event is $70 through Nov. 6 and $80 from Nov. 7-24 for the half-marathon; $30 through Nov. 6 and $35 from Nov. 7-24 for the 5K; $15 through Nov. 6 and $20 from Nov. 7-24 for the fun run. On-site registration is $90 for the half-marathon, $45 for the 5K and $30 for the fun run. Register at http://gsob.co/2eZfTFX.

Packet pick-up and late registration will take place Friday, Nov. 25 at the Orange Beach Event Center at The Wharf from 3-6 p.m. and the day of the race at the Orange Beach Sportsplex from 6:30-7:30 a.m. Participants may indulge in food and drinks provided by Cosmo’s Restaurant & Bar, Publix and Coca-Cola immediately following the race. Continuing with the Thanksgiving spirit, event organizers also encourage participants to bring canned goods to benefit the Christian Service Center.

Additionally, the Sports Commission’s Volunteer Incentive Program supports civic groups by contributing $40 per volunteer per shift worked at designated athletic events, including this race.
