GULF SHORES AND ORANGE BEACH, ALA. – Gulf Shores & Orange Beach Tourism (CVB) - along with officials from both coastal communities - is pleased to report that this beach destination was spared any significant impact from Isaac, and the area will be ready to welcome families for one last summer vacation during the upcoming Labor Day weekend.
“Today we are experiencing high winds and rough surf but conditions are improving throughout the day, and according to the weather forecast, we will return to normal wind and surf conditions in time for the weekend,” said Herb Malone, president and CEO of the CVB. “A large majority of our businesses opened today, and the other few will open very shortly.”
Official Updates from Both Cities
“As of Wednesday at noon, all major roads and streets in Gulf Shores are open,” said Mayor Robert Craft. “We do not have utility damage, and all city services are ready to go for the holiday weekend.”
Along the same lines, officials from the City of Orange Beach report similar conditions.
“All roads in Orange Beach are open with no utility damage,” said Ken Grimes, city administrator for the City of Orange Beach. “In fact, many of our businesses stayed open throughout the storm.”
