For wrestling thrills, make sure to be at the Hoover Met Complex this weekend, July 29 – 31. Deep South Duals Wrestling organization brings over 70 teams from over 28 states to the Hoover area to compete. The Duals competition features girls and boys from K-12th grade. There are open adult divisions for 30 and under, 45 and under, and 60 and under also. Over 26 simultaneous wrestling matches can take place within the Finley Center at the Hoover Met Complex, managed by Sports Facilities Companies, making it the place for wrestling enthusiasts this weekend.
General Manager Shannon Ealy stated, "We are excited to watch them compete and provide a first-class experience this Friday through Sunday." He added, “There is nothing like being at the Finley Center and seeing multiple exciting matches happening simultaneously.”
Deep South Duals Tournaments aim to bring phenomenal wrestling competition to the south. The need for more wrestlers and competing opportunities continues to grow extensively each year. Deep South is proud to offer wrestling to girls, especially since the NCAA recognized women's wrestling as an emerging sport in 2020. Since 1994, the number of females wrestling at the high school level has grown from 804 to over 28,000, according to the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA). Deep South Duals Tournament Director David Hall stated, "We are looking forward to another record-breaking wrestling event in Hoover!"
Wrestling registration is open until Friday, July 29. Tickets will be $56.00 for the weekend pass, $22.00 per daily pass, with all children under five gaining free admission. The company Tournament truck provides the setup and mats, and Sports Addicts will have gear for sale during the tournament. For more registration information, contact David Hall at 205-966-1398.
