The Gulf Coast Challenge Powered by the Mobile Sports Authority presents two Historically Black Colleges and Universities in a classic showdown. The Ultimate HBCU Experience is Saturday, September 25, 2021, at 4:00 PM at Ladd-Peebles Stadium, featuring the Golden Tigers of Tuskegee University vs. the Bulldogs of Alabama A&M University.  HBCU football isn't just about football...the half-time show should be a show-stopper with the Tuskegee University Marching Crimson Piper Band and the Alabama A&M Maroon and White Band.

Before game day, there is a week of festivities. Some highlights of the week include the Kickoff Concert featuring Reuben Studdard in Cathedral Square on Tuesday evening. A Pep Rally followed by a concert featuring the Ying Yang Twins in Cathedral Square on Friday night. There is even a Gulf Coast Challenge Parade on Saturday morning. Once the game is over, stay put for a post-game concert featuring Bel Biv Devoe. Don't miss the fun!?

2021 Azalea Trail Run (43rd Annual)

For 42 years, the Azalea Trail Run (ATR) has attracted runners from across the world. The Azalea Trail Run is one of the nation's premier 10K road races. Both the 10K and 5K races are RRCA-sanctioned with USATF-certified courses. All races, including the 2K Fun Run/Walk , are flat, fast surfaces.

Wheelchairs: This is a 10K race only and is held in accordance to rules set by Wheelchairsports U.S.A.

2021 Tri the Gulf Triathlon Presented by Tobias, McCormick and Comer

Fall is the perfect time to try a triathlon, so why not Tri the Gulf? The Tri the Gulf Triathlon is a sprint triathlon consisting of a 600 yard Gulf swim, 16.7 mile island + bridge bike, and 3.25 mile run on beautiful Dauphin Island.  

The 2021 race includes two additional options: the Aqua-Bike (a 600 yard Gulf swim and 16.7 mile island + bridge bike) and the Bike-Run (a 16.7 mile island + bridge bike and 3.1 mile island run).

Awards will go to top 3 Overall Male & Female. There is not a relay team option for Aqua-Bike or Bike-Run courses. Tri the Gulf is sanctioned by the US Triathlon Association.
