The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced it has signed an agreement with Decatur Morgan County Tourism to host both its 2021 and 2022 Men’s Soccer National Championships. The 63rd and 64th iterations of the tournament will be played at Jack Allen Soccer Complex in Decatur, Alabama with additional assistance by the Southern States Athletic Conference.
“Decatur Morgan County Tourism is honored to be hosting this prestigious event. We will ensure that this is a championship experience for all of the student-athletes, spectators, and coaches. Thank you to the Southern States Athletic Conference for partnering with our team on this event,” stated Danielle Gibson, CEO.
Located on the banks of the Tennessee River in North Alabama, Decatur will be the third city in the state to hold the event since its inception in 1999. Jack Allen Soccer Complex features 10 international size fields on 77 acres of manicured turf. From 2009-2011, it was the site of the NAIA Women’s Soccer National Championship.
“The Southern States Athletic Conference is very excited to partner with Decatur Morgan County Tourism in hosting the NAIA Men's Soccer Championship,” remarked SSAC Commissioner Mike Hall. “NAIA student-athletes, coaches and spectators will find the City of Decatur and their staff very hospitable, and I'm confident they will provide an excellent championship experience.”
The annual event features 40-teams, which will battle it out at 10 identified Opening Round locations. The final 10-teams, in single elimination format, while play from November 30-December 6, culminating in the national title game on ESPN3.
“NAIA Men’s Soccer has found a tremendous host in the Southern States Athletic Conference and Decatur Morgan County Tourism,” said NAIA President and CEO Jim Carr. “The experience in running a high-end championship experience that Mike (Hall) and the Southern States Athletic Conference brings will certainly play a big factor in the success of this championship for the next two years.”
