PGA TOUR's 2016 Barbasol Championship Coming to Alabama

The PGA TOUR's 2016 Barbasol Championship has two events, both coming to Alabama. The Pro-Am will be held on July 13, 2016; Tournament July 14 - 17, 2016.      

The venue will be the Lake Course at RTJ Grand National in Opelika, Alabama. All information is available at the site of www.barbasolchampionship.com.

Volunteers Needed:  The tournament still has a great need for volunteers and is partnering with the Jason Dufner Foundation to help recruit volunteers to pull off this international event. To volunteer, visit www.barbasolchampionship.com.

Yardage:  7,302; par 71

Field:  132 players (more details below and attached)

Format:  72 holes stroke play

Purse:  $3.5 million                

Winner's Share:  $630,000

FedExCup Points:  300 to winner

Media Coverage:  Live Golf Channel coverage each day:  Thursday and Friday 4 to 7 p.m. Central;  Saturday and Sunday 2 to 5 p.m. Central.

PGA TOUR Victories: The current field a total of 121 wins on the PGA TOUR  including three Masters Champions (Angel Cabrera 2007, Trevor Immelman 2008 and Lucas Glover 2009), two U.S. Open Champions (Angel Cabrera 2007 and Lucas Glover 2009) and one PGA Championship winner (David Toms 2001). Masters winner Mike Weir in 2003 is an alternate.

Most Career Wins:  David Toms has 13 PGA TOUR victories, including the 2001 PGA Championship.

Highest Ranked: Auburn's Patton Kizzire is the highest ranked player in the current field. He is ranked 40th on the FedExCup Rank and 70th in the Official World Golf Ranking. Other players top ranked players to watch include:  Ricky Barnes, Jason Bohn, Roberto Castro, K.J. Choi, Jon Curran, Charles Howell III, Jason Kokrak, Chez Reavie, Kyle Riefers and John Senden. We also anticipate Boo Weekley will have a large following.

Monday, July 11 - Barbasol Art Challenge at Auburn University - 11 a.m.; Practice day for field

Tuesday, July 12 - Alabama Power Youth Clinic at 10 a.m. with PGA TOUR professionals. Practice Day and player interviews.

Wednesday, July 13 - Pro-Am Day. Tee times TBD. Aubie at 6:50 a.m. Two waves - 7 to 9 a.m.; noon to 2 p.m.

Thursday, July 14 - First Round of Barbasol Championship

Friday, July 15 - Second Round of Barbasol Championship

Saturday, July 16 - Third Round of Barbasol Championship

Sunday, July 17 - Final Round of Barbasol Championship. Final putt scheduled for 5 p.m. Central
