A decade-long tradition continues in Gulf Shores on Saturday, Sept. 10 during the Brett/Robinson Alabama Coastal Triathlon. Locals and beach guests are invited to participate in the long-course triathlon or sprint “Tri-It-On” event taking off from The Hangout with scenic coastal views, including a swim in the Gulf of Mexico.
“It’s hard to believe it has been 10 years since the first Alabama Coastal Triathlon,” said Bill Brett of Brett/Robinson. “It’s been a pleasure being a part of the trailblazing event from the beginning and hosting participants in our condos and Phoenix All Suites hotels. Brett/Robinson is looking forward to sponsoring the event for years to come because we’re not only sponsoring healthy living but positive, family-friendly growth on the Alabama Gulf Coast.”
The triathlon will feature a 1.5K swim in the Gulf of Mexico, 40K bike ride and 10K scenic run, while the “Tri-It-On” event consists of a 300-yard swim, 10-mile bike ride and 2-mile run. Pre- and post-race activities for both events will take place at The Hangout.
“This race reflects exactly what our destination is all about – family,” said Beth Gendler, vice president of sales for the Gulf Shores & Orange Beach Sports Commission. “Brett/Robinson has done a fantastic job of giving families the opportunity to get fit in the sprint or full triathlon while vacationing at the beach for the last 10 years, and we look forward to this race continuing to grow.”
