The Turkey Calling Contest rolls into Mobile this month. Many of the country’s top turkey callers are eagerly awaiting the chance to show off their talents at the Mobile Convention Center June 10-11. The World Championship Turkey Calling Contest has long-time ties to the city of Mobile. The inaugural event was held in Mobile in 1940 at the Battle House Hotel when Mr. Fred T. Stimpson, the current mayor's grandfather, took home top honors.
Former world-champions will judge the competition. Male and female competitors will be given a turkey-calling situation to replicate using air and friction calls. The contest will feature various age groups (from 10 and under to Senior and Open) competing for the world title in their respective divisions.
Divisions:
Poults: 10 and under
Junior: 11-15 years old
Intermediate: 16 - 20 years old
Amateur: Open to all ages without a sanctioned calling win
Two-Man Team: Open to all
World Owling: Open to all
