USSSA Tourneys Swinging Back to the Beach

Batter up as 600 youth baseball, softball and coach pitch teams swing into action during the United States Specialty Sports Association (USSSA) Global Sports World Series from June 17 through July 27 at the Gulf Shores, Orange Beach and Foley Sportsplexes. In 2013, these tournaments produced $26.3 million in total revenue and 45,740 room nights, playing a vital role in sports tourism in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach.

“The USSSA tournaments not only allow us to highlight an incredible organization which caters to youth athletes across the country but also boost our economy through the world of sports,” Beth Gendler, vice president of sales for Gulf Shores & Orange Beach Sports Commission (GSOBT). “Beachgoers and locals are encouraged to cheer on thousands of talented athletes throughout the summer as we welcome back USSSA and its players for the sixth season at the beach."

Founded in 1968, USSSA is the world’s largest multi-sport athletic organization including baseball, basketball, fast-pitch softball, flag football, martial arts, lacrosse, soccer, slow-pitch softball, volleyball and wrestling.
