The 2022 Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series Arizona is returning to the Valley of the Sun where the event will span Tempe, Phoenix and Scottsdale on January 15-16, 2022.
Arizona is the first stop of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series 2022 tour schedule. This year, the series will span 14 destinations in the USA, Spain and Mexico.
The race weekend in Arizona officially kicks off on Friday, January 14 with the Health & Fitness Expo at the Phoenix Convention Center. On Saturday, January 15, race day returns with the 5K taking place from Mill Ave Bridge – Northbound (Tempe). This is followed on Sunday, January 16, by the marathon, half marathon and 10K taking off from University Drive & College Ave (Tempe).
Elite runners from around the world, including Kellen Taylor (USA), Steph Bruce (USA) and Rosie Edwards (GBR) in the women’s field and Benson Cheruiyot (KEN), Mo’ath Alkhawaldeh (JOR) and ultra-runner Adrian McDonald (USA) in the men’s field will contest the half marathon for a total prize purse of US$7,500.
Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series Ambassador Roosevelt Cook (USA) will be in a competitive field in the elite marathon that will contest a US$1,000 prize to the overall winner. In addition, Northern Arizona University’s Matthew Baxter from New Zealand will be looking at setting the 5K national record for New Zealand at the Rock ‘n’ Roll Arizona 5K on January 15.
