IRONMAN will celebrate 20 years of racing at the 2024 edition of the Paradox IRONMAN Arizona triathlon, part of the VinFast IRONMAN North America Series.
Since the inaugural edition in 2005, the southwestern USA triathlon has attracted athletes from around the world to race through Arizona’s desert landscapes. The 2024 Paradox IRONMAN Arizona is scheduled to take place on November 17, 2024.
Joining as title partner of the Paradox IRONMAN Arizona triathlon through 2025 is locally based recruiting software firm, Paradox, whose headquarters are based in downtown Scottsdale, Arizona.
For the 20th anniversary in 2024, the Paradox IRONMAN Arizona race will aim to make the anniversary edition memorable and inspiring. IRONMAN noted that… ‘Athletes can expect new race experiences, enhanced participant support, and an electrifying atmosphere that celebrates the essence of human resilience.’
“Over the past 20 years, we have seen thousands of athletes cross their finish line here in Tempe, proving just why the IRONMAN Arizona triathlon has become such a popular race,” said Judy Stowers, Regional Director, Southwest for The IRONMAN Group.
“This event would not be possible without the dedication of athletes, volunteers, sponsors, and the support of the entire IRONMAN community over the past two decades. The upcoming 20th anniversary is not just a celebration of the IRONMAN Arizona event’s past, but also empowering athletes to reach their dreams for years to come and celebrate our beautiful desert host community.
“We invite athletes of all levels to join us in 2024 to be part of history, to create their own stories of memories and to continue to be a part of the legacy of the IRONMAN Arizona triathlon.”
Athletes will be able to register for the 2024 Paradox IRONMAN Arizona triathlon onsite at this year’s event, at the IRONMAN Village at Tempe Beach Park during race week. General registration for the 2024 edition will open online to the public on November 27, 2023.
Before celebrating the 20th anniversary next year, this year’s race takes place on Sunday, November 19. Over 2,000 registered athletes are expected to toe the start line of the 2023 Paradox IRONMAN Arizona triathlon.
The race begins with a new and improved 2.4-mile swim in Tempe Town Lake. Athletes will then start a three-loop 112-mile bike course through the Salt River Pima Maricopa Indian Community and out to the Beeline Highway. The bike course features desert scenery as athletes begin their final descent towards the lake.
The two-loop run course takes athletes along the banks of Tempe Town Lake before journeying through Papago Park and Rio Salado Parkway.
A release from IRONMAN added that… ‘Over the past two decades, the IRONMAN Arizona triathlon has seen thousands of inspired athletes descend on the Valley of the Sun to experience the popular late season race.
‘Known for its warmth and over 300 days of sunshine, Tempe and the greater Phoenix area has delivered an unforgettable racing experience featuring urban charm and scenic desert vistas. From first-time finishers to seasoned veterans, each athlete’s story is a testament to the indomitable spirit that drives athletes year after year to come race in Arizona.’
