USA Triathlon today announced that the 2018 USA Triathlon Art & Science of Triathlon International Coaching Symposium will take place from Oct. 26-27 in Tempe, Arizona.
The seventh edition of the biannual event, which will be held next year at Tempe Mission Palms Hotel, is the industry-leading educational conference for triathlon coaches to learn from the sport’s top minds, make connections in the industry and discuss new developments in multisport. USA Triathlon-Certified Coaches earn 15 CEUs (Coaching Education Units) for attending the entire conference.
The symposium will include informational sessions and seminars covering a variety of topics on both Thursday (Oct. 26) and Friday (Oct. 27). On Friday night, guests will be invited to attend a reception to network with other coaches and select presenters.
While speakers and topics for the 2018 event will be announced in the coming months, areas covered at previous symposiums have included altitude training, coaching youth and junior programs, the importance of recovery to performance, sport psychology and more.
Attendees to the symposium will hear from the best coaches and advisers in the sport, including members of USA Triathlon’s High Performance staff. Recent presenters have included Jamie Turner, coach of 2016 Olympic champion triathlete Gwen Jorgensen; Bob Bowman, personal coach for legendary U.S. Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps; and Alison Dunlap, renowned road and mountain bike racer and two-time U.S. Olympian.
“The Art & Science of Triathlon Symposium is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for coaches from around the world to come together and share their expertise,” said Linda Cleveland, Coach Development Senior Manager at USA Triathlon. “Coaches will leave this event inspired, with new insights to share with their athletes and new relationships forged with others in the industry.”
Registration will open at Active.com later this year. In addition, USA Triathlon will offer Level I Coaching and Race Director Certification Clinics at Tempe Mission Palms Hotel preceding the symposium on Oct. 24 and 25.
