David Villa, former World Cup, Euro & UEFA Champions League winner and Spain’s all-time leading goalscorer, currently playing with Vissel Kobe in Japan’s J1 league, is bringing his renowned DV7 Soccer Academy to Canada. The first location will launch in Vancouver later this year.
DV7 Soccer CAN is the newest member of the DV7 Soccer Academy, an international network of youth soccer clubs with teams in Spain, Puerto Rico, Hong Kong, Dominican Republic, and the USA (NY, CA). DV7 Soccer arrives in Vancouver ready to welcome the next generation of youth soccer players eager to learn from one of the game’s greatest stars.
The Academy’s mission is to teach children around the world how to play soccer using the unique and unparalleled DV7 method. This methodology allows players to develop soccer skills while also developing strong personal values on and off the field. The DV7 curriculum is based on the Spanish soccer methodology, which has proven effective and successful around the world. It is the method that David Villa learned as a child, carried throughout his career, and perfected under the guidance of some of the best coaches of all time: Luis Aragones, Pep Guardiola, Vicente Del Bosque, and Diego Simeone.
“I am excited to announce the opening of our new academy in Vancouver. A year ago we started out first program in the city and saw unbelievable potential, we were incredibly pleased with the level of talent, dedication, and commitment shown by players in the area. I’d like to give special recognition to our local partner, Gary Pooni, who helped us through the entire planning process and helped us adapt our academy to local soccer structure. I’d also like to thank our sponsors Coromandel Properties, Domus Homes, Brook Pooni Associates, Amacon, Lantern Properties, Prima Properties, Strand, and Wesgroup for their commitment to growing youth soccer in Vancouver. As we embark on this new project, we will continue to strive for excellence by educating our children in the DV7 methodology, both on and off the soccer field. I am looking forward to visiting the academy later this year”, said David Villa when asked about this new location and how the decision was made to expand into Canada.
We are pleased to announce that after an extensive global search, David Villa has selected Robert De Los Santos as the Director of Coaching for this new Academy. Among his many qualifications, Robert holds his UEFA Coaching License and continues to pursue additional UEFA courses along with his Psychology degree with a focus in Sport Psychology.
De Los Santos started his career in Spain with FC Barcelona where he won the league with their U10 team. After a successful year he was promoted and moved to Kuwait to manage the FC Barcelona Escola there. Following a successful few years there, he created his own soccer academy in Kuwait where he had the opportunity to develop youth players both on and off the pitch, applying his unique combination of both soccer and psychology training in his methods. With a proven track record of excellence, he has had 29 players called up to the Kuwait National Team during his time there.
Robert is focused on not only developing tremendous footballers but excellent individuals - a key pillar in the DV7 methodology. ''I planted a soccer seed in Kuwait and I have been taking care of the tree for many years. I believe the citizens of Kuwait will collect the results soon and its National Team will start getting recognized on the international scale. Now it's time to plant another seed in Canada with the DV7 methodology. In my short time here I’m already very excited by the talent I’ve seen and I can’t wait to get started.''
Tryouts and Talent ID clinics presented by Coromandel Properties and Advanced Training Sessions are being held in July-August for players born between 2006 and 2014 as a way to scout players that will form the future academy teams. Registration is required in advance https://www.dv7soccer.com/vancouver
DV7 Soccer CAN is focused on ensuring all players have an opportunity to play and work to keep financial commitments as reasonable as possible. This commitment wouldn’t be possible without the generous support of our sponsors including Coromandel Properties, Domus Homes, Brook Pooni Associates, Amacon, Lantern Properties, Prima Properties, Strand and Wesgroup.
