With a few exceptions, all 20 of Cal Tri Events‘ nationwide events in 2025 will offer 18 racing options, per event, for athletes.
The racing options span triathlon, runbikerun, swimbike, swimrun, swim & run for sprint (18+), youth sprint (7-17) & Olympic (18+) distances.
The exceptions include:
- 2025 Cal Tri Ventura – May 4, 2025: Sprint (18+) + Olympic (18+) events only. No youth sprint (7-17) events.
- 2025 La Crema Cal Tri Sonoma – June 22, 2025: No runbikerun, swimrun or 10K options due to the point-to-point layout of the race.
- 2025 Cal Tri Charlottesville – August 31, 2025: Sprint (18+) & youth sprint (7-17) events only.
Cal Tri Events adds that it… ‘no longer offers any relay options as the registration process creates excessive administrative burden, due to consumer confusion for those events.’
Currently registered 2024 relay events will proceed. However Cal Tri clarifies that it is no longer taking new relay entries.
‘Never say never, but relays are not being considered in the near future. With swimbike, swimrun, swim and run events there are still ample multisport options.’
The company added that its athlete and family-friendly initiatives are returning in 2025, and that these are… ‘critical to support Cal Tri Events’ safe, affordable & accessible mission.’
- Free youth racing, ages 7-17
- Free race transfers, deferrals & participant transfers as late as the day before the race
- US$85 all-in early bird pricing
- Free pre-race swim/transition clinics
Cal Tri Events is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization with a mission for its events to be ‘safe, affordable & accessible’. It is billed as the largest national short-course triathlon series in the US – with athletes enjoying free race transfers, deferrals & participant transfers as late as the day before the race.
