California to Host Top-Level Women's Water Polo Action

November will no doubt be a busy month for some of the best athletes in the world of women's water polo. Eight of the top teams in women's college water polo will kick things off at the annual Collegiate Cup this November 7-8 at the William Woollett Aquatics Center in Irvine, CA. NCAA finalist UCLA leads a field including USC, California, Arizona State, Hawaii, UC-Irvine, Long Beach State and Michigan in two days of competition as the squads ramp up to the 2016 season. In addition to the Collegiate Cup action, the USA Women's National Team will take part in their first match since winning gold at the 2015 FINA World Championship when they meet China on November 7. The match will take place at 6:30pm following the completion of day one of the Collegiate Cup. Tickets for that match will be available at the door only for $10. 

Following the weekend of college action, the USA Women's National Team heads to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for an exhibition tournament in the same city that will host the 2016 Olympic Games. Once they return home from South America, the action continues as Team USA will tangle with rival Australia in a three game series. The first and fourth ranked teams in the world will open the series on November 23 at the Coggan Family Aquatics Center in La Jolla, CA at 7pm. The next night the two head north to Los Alamitos, CA and the Joint Forces Training Base for a 7pm opening sprint. After water polo fans around the country celebrate Thanksgiving, the two will meet again to close out the series on November 27 at Dos Pueblos High School in Goleta, CA at 2pm.
