The Crush Bonspiel, August 29 - September 1, Includes Wine Tasting Too

Curlers from across the United States and Canada will be gathering at SkateTown in Roseville for the 2013 Crush Bonspiel!  Curling -- an increasingly popular ice sport with roots in Scotland and Canada -- has finally made a sanctuary for itself in California -- all in Placer Valley.

Curling is a social Scottish and Canadian sport that incorporates drinking wine with pushing large flat stones across an ice rink toward a mark.  Several traditions are incorporated into this distinctive sporting event; for instance: a piper pipes the ice for luck and the winning team buys the losing team a drink afterward.

"Bonspiel is a curling term for tournaments with wine," says Wine Country Curling Club's  tournament director Bob Kuhl. The event is free with a drink purchase!  Don't miss  this unique sporting experience on August  29th through September 1st.
