Billed as ‘the world’s oldest triathlon series’, the LA Tri-Series will be hosting its third and final event of the series on November 24, 2024.
The third race, referred to as the Turkey Tri, is positioned as the only triathlon happening in California as Thanksgiving week kicks off. This year, Thanksgiving in the USA will be held on Thursday, November 28, 2024.
“Thanksgiving is the most popular day for running in the US, and many folks make getting out there and getting some exercise a part of their holiday traditions,” said Mike Bone, President and CEO of Spectrum Sports Management, which produces the LA Tri-Series.
“The Turkey Tri is the perfect opportunity to add some new challenge to that tradition. New and experienced triathletes will have a great experience participating with us, and we look forward to kicking off the holiday week with them.”
The Turkey Tri will also include a range of races for participants to choose from:
- Super Sprint Triathlon: 300m swim, 12K bike ride and 5K run
- Super Sprint AquaBike: 300m swim, 12K bike ride
- Championship Triathlon: 1K swim, 34K bike ride and 10K run
- Championship AquaBike: 1K swim, 34K bike ride
- Championship – Duathlon: 5K run, 34K bike ride and 10K run
The LA Tri-Series has taken place in Bonelli Park, San Dimas, CA, since its inaugural event in 1983. The event organising team at Spectrum Sports point out that the venue provides new triathletes in particular… ‘an opportunity to participate in an open-water swim in a safe environment, to cycle on a safe route with little traffic and to run a well-supported, scenic course.’
