The Senior Softball Western National Championships are coming to Placer Valley for their 14th installment, from Aug. 5-7. This tournament attracts the top senior teams from West of the Mississippi, and the winners will play the champions of the Eastern Nationals (played in Raleigh, NC) for the Nationals Championships in Las Vegas this fall.
Last year, 100 teams took place in the Western Nationals, and this year that number is expected to increase. There will be a solid audience at the games with about 1,500 families, friends, and local seniors watching. The older divisions (65, 70, 75, 80) play August 5-7 at Foskett Park in Lincoln & Sacramento Softball Complex. The younger divisions (40, 50, 55, 60) will play at Foskett, Maidu, and Mahany Parks in Placer Valley & Sacramento, Bartholomew, and Laguna Parks in Sacramento.
The Western Nationals is one of the premier championship tournaments in the sport, and Senior Softball is looking forward to making it a signature event in the Placer Valley, which has been home for several years to the California State Championships.
