Route 66 Cruisin’ Reunion returns this weekend, September 20-21, 2024, to picturesque Euclid Avenue in Ontario. More than 22 square blocks of the historic avenue will be lined with over 900 cars. Cruising the avenue is a family event for the owners of these classic cars all dated before 1988. Model Ts, Woodies, Impalas and hot rods like Dodge Chargers, Daytona’s and the rare Chrysler Barracudas are some of the shiny rides guests will see.

Friday kicks off with rock ‘n roll  tunes from the classic rock band Grand Funk Railroad. Known for their hits “We’re an American Band,” “Some Kind of Wonderful,” and “Closer to Home,” the band released six hit albums between 1970 and 1972. Grand Funk Railroad sold out Shea Stadium in 72 hours and set a tone that mixed rock and roll, rhythm and blues and pop.

Opening performers for the Friday rock party include national touring artist Harlis Sweetwater. His bluesy rock voice and guitar riff garnered praise from DJ Uncle Joe Benson and “Rock & Blues Muse Magazine.”  Mc & DJ Dave Muzik Man emcees Friday and Saturday’s Concerts.

Ambrosia, often a headliner at Yacht Rock reunions, is sure to kick in a little romance, dancing and swaying when they take the stage on Saturday. Ambrosia’s tenure as a soft rock band includes hits “You’re the Only Woman,” “That’s How Much,” “I Keep Holdin’ On” and “Biggest Part of Me.”

Orianthi, a platinum-selling recording artist and world class guitarist opens Saturday’s concert. Australian-born, Orianthi has played arenas with rock royalty like Carlos Santana, Carrie Underwood, and Alice Cooper. Orianthi’s song “According To You,” is a RIAA-Certified Platinum record with over 40 million streams on Spotify. Her latest album “Rock Candy” features “Light It Up” with 1.1 million streams.

Also, on Friday and Saturday night,  Route 66 Cruisin’ Reunion will rise high into the evening sky with a musically choreographed drone show that pays tribute to the historic route.

A classic weekend full of teenage memories and “first” cars, is truly what 900 vehicles, thousands of owners, and fans come to see in Ontario. The September event that closes Summer 2024, Route 66 Cruisin’ Reunion invites families and friends, to witness the massive cruise up and down Euclid Avenue.

Spectators are sure to smile fondly as their favorite hot rod, Deuce Coupe, Vette  or classic Mustang passes by. Euclid Avenue is a picturesque four-lane boulevard with a park-sized grass median, which intersects with Route 66 at Foothill Blvd. The perfect photo opportunity peaks in the afternoon with classy chassis cruising in the foreground and Mount Baldy shining in the distance. This is where cruisin’ is the event, and classic vehicles bring back visions of “American Graffiti” and “Mel’s Diner” in a rolling parade of hot rod classics.

The event includes two nights of evening concerts, hours of a cruisin’ classic car parade from the first mass-produced automobile – the Model T –  to hot rods of the 1980’s. Registration is now open for all 4-wheeled or more vehicles up to vintage 1988. Awards for “Best of Show” and “Best in Class” are announced Saturday evening of the event.
