Sports Anaheim, a division of Visit Anaheim, has announced more details on the CCA Division II Basketball’s Annual Tip-Off Classic Tournament, Nov. 4-6, 2016.

Sports Anaheim noted a partnership with GET Travel, a full-service sports travel provider, to operate the tournament. A marquee preseason competition, the tournament will now permanently reside in Orange County, CA, starting with this year’s event which will be held at Santiago Canyon College Athletic Complex in East Orange.

Launched in March 2016, Sports Anaheim’s mission is to strengthen and promote the destination’s sports culture by attracting diverse sporting events to Anaheim and Orange County. The CCA Tip-Off Classic will be the first owned and operated event by Sports Anaheim, with the group in charge of event organization, promotion and sponsorship opportunities. GET Travel, the previous owner of the CCA Tip-Off Classic Tournament, will still serve as the official travel provider offering transportation, hotel stays, theme park admission, and travel packages for fans attending the event.

“Welcoming CCA’s Tip-Off classic into Orange County, in partnership with GET Travel, is a huge win for our team and for amateur sports in Orange County,” said Roy Edmonson, vice president, Sports Anaheim. “The infrastructure to build and activate Orange County as a successful amateur sports event center is already in existence – we have the venues, world-class entertainment and year-round near-perfect weather. With the addition of the Annual Tip-Off Classic to our roster, we now have the events to show that we are the center of sports in Southern California.”

Five of the CCA Division II Conferences will be represented at this year’s event including: Great Northwest Athletic Conference, Heartland Conference, Lone Star Conference, Northern Sun Conference, PacWest Conference, and the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

Six men’s teams will compete this year, they are defending PacWest Champions Azusa Pacific University, Arkansas Fort Smith, Metropolitan State University of Denver, St. Cloud State University, Texas A&M International University, and West Texas A&M University. Four of the six men’s programs are competing in the Tip-Off Classic for the first time in their school’s history.

The six women’s bracket participants include Augustana University, California Baptist University, Colorado School of Mines, Simon Fraser University, University of Mary, and West Texas A&M University.
