Rollerblade served a presenting sponsor for Skate San Francisco – The Barbary Coast Experience. The three-day celebration, spanning from July 8-10, 2016, brought inline skaters from around the country together for the west coast’s only 26.2 skate marathon.
Skaters kicked off the weekend on Friday, July 8, at 9 p.m. with a recreational 12-mile loop through the city and along the San Francisco waterfront as they wind through iconic sites like Pier 39, Fisherman’s Wharf, Aquatic Park, the Marina, the Palace of Fine Arts, Union Street, the Broadway and Stockton Tunnels, Union Square, and the “Concrete Canyons.” On Saturday, skaters were invited to “The Church of 8 Wheels” Roller Disco Party in the Sacred Heart Church event space.
The Barbary Coast Roller Marathon and Half Marathon competition closed out the weekend festivities on Sunday, July 10. The race course winds along the Great Highway, giving participants a view Pacific Ocean backdrop as they skate. The race was open to skaters of any ability.
Separately, Rollerblade sponsored a 10K challenge on July 10 in Orlando, FL. Rollerblade athlete, Jorge Botero three-time World Champion professional athlete and coaching consultant, provided skating tips and tricks to those in attendance.
