Colorado Springs hosts an International Skating Union (ISU) Junior Grand Prix (JGP) of the Figure Skating Series event now through Sept. 6 at The Broadmoor World Arena. The event marks the first time a Junior Grand Prix event has been held in the U.S. since Lake Placid, New York, hosted in 2012.
Now in its 19th season, the JGP Series consists of seven international events for junior-level athletes in a cumulative point-scoring format. Each athlete is eligible to score points in two of the seven scheduled events (pairs can compete in two of four designated events). The top six point-earners in each discipline qualify for the Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final, Dec. 10-13, in Barcelona, Spain.
Team USA will be represented by 18 athletes, including Anthony Boucher - a native of Denver who trains in Westminster, Colorado.
