The second running of the OB Prestige Auto | Heuberger Motors Pikes Peak Airstrip Attack is quickly approaching. Revvolution.com and Shift-S3ctor, in conjunction with the Colorado Springs Sports Corporation and The Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb are excited to bring the adrenaline-fueled half-mile side-by-side automotive and motorcycle roll racing event to the Colorado Springs Airport June 26th and 27th as part of Pikes Peak Speedweek.
Airstrip Attack is a half-mile side-by-side roll race and trap speed competition featuring hundreds of the fastest, most powerful street cars and motorcycles in the nation. The Pikes Peak Airstrip Attack is the only event in the country where participants have the opportunity to come together at a commercial airport of this size and importance while competing for the title of the Mile High Victor. New for 2015, motorcycles will have the opportunity to participate and the event will be hosting races on two separate runways, simultaneously.
"This year is turning out to be so much larger than we originally anticipated-it's already proving to be nearly double the size than it was in 2014. We can't express how excited we are to announce the major updates and everything we have going on!", says Ryan Randels, co-founder of Revvolution - Shift-S3ctor. "With less than a two weeks to go, we're nearly completely sold out in the Pro class with a combined total of over 200 cars registered. Also beating out last year, the average horsepower for 2015 is already above 800hp, an astonishing feat for over 200 cars."
In 2014, the top speed record was 208 mph set by English Racing and their "Silver Bullet" Nissan GT-R. With the likes of OB Prestige Auto coming out with three twin-turbo Lamborghinis exceeding a combined 6,000 hp and dozens of other high-end exotics including McLarens, Porsches, Ferraris, GT-Rs and a handful of turbocharged Ford GTs, the record is set to be broken!
New for 2015 is the VIP section where spectators can relax in their shaded, front-row seats to the action while enjoying a catered breakfast and lunch and a free top-flight beer selection from Bristol Brewing Company. VIP tickets are $65 per day for adults with limited quantities available.
Also new for 2015 is the Pikes Peak Airstrip Attack Car Show Presented by the Telluride Festival of Cars & Colors and Man Cave Colorado, a high-end static show featuring highly modified, exotic and rare cars that define the Colorado scene.
Riding on the success of last year's FanFest engagement, this year we're introducing the Pikes Peak Airstrip Attack FanFest Zone Presented by Revvolution.com, its own section of FanFest where tens of thousands of Speedweek enthusiasts will be able to get up close and personal with all the vehicles, drivers, sponsors and supporters of the event.
"It's not just about the competition; it's about the enthusiasts, the personalities, the cars, the businesses, the media, the lifestyle and culture," said Shift-S3ctor co-founder Jason Huang.
"Building on last year's success of a nearly sold-out competition and more than 5,500 die-hard automotive enthusiasts, we're expecting attendance to nearly double in addition to a much larger competition base," said Shift-S3ctor co-founder Ryan Fisher. "The response for our Colorado presence is more than overwhelming and we can't thank our supporters enough-after all, this event is for Colorado and the automotive industry that supports it."
Pikes Peak Airstrip Attack takes place the Friday and Saturday leading up to the world's premier hill climb and the nation's second oldest motorsports event behind the famed Indy 500, The Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.
