Colorado Springs Lists Calendar of Sports Events, Volunteer Needs

The Colorado Springs Sports Corp has announced a number of events this summer and fall. Volunteer support is needed for many of these.

Pikes Peak Airstrip Attack

Colorado Springs Airport
Pikes Peak Airstrip Attack is a half-mile, side-by-side roll race and trap speed competition featuring hundreds of the fastest, most powerful street cars in the nation.
Volunteer Roles: set-up, admissions/ticket sales, beer garden, parking/staging, etc.

Rocky Mountain State Games
(July 19-21 & 26-28)

Colorado Springs
The Rocky Mountain State Games (RMSG) is Colorado's largest multi-sport festival for athletes of all ages and athletic abilities including those with physical disabilities or visual impairment. More than 10,000 athletes participate each year in 35+ sports.
Volunteer Roles: The need for general volunteers varies by sport but tasks may include: athlete check-in, information booths, set-up/tear-down, course marshals, scoring, timing, hospitality and many other activities

The Broadmoor Pikes Peak Cycling Hill Climb

Pikes Peak Highway
The Broadmoor Pikes Peak Cycling Hill Climb features a competitive race sanctioned by USA Cycling and a Gran Fondo (fun ride) up the Pikes Peak Highway to the 14,115' summit of Pikes Peak - America's Mountain.
Volunteer Roles: aid station management, athlete check-in, information booths, set-up/tear-down, course marshals, scoring, timing, hospitality and many other activities.

USA Cycling Masters Road National Championship
(August 8-11)

U.S. Air Force Academy & other locations in the Colorado Springs area
This four day event will attract 800-1,000 cyclists from across the U.S. competing for national championships in road, time trial and criterium races.
Volunteer Roles: aid station management, athlete check-in, information booths, set-up/tear-down, course marshals, scoring, timing, hospitality and many other activities.

Colorado Springs Labor Day Lift
(Aug. 31- Sep. 2)

Memorial Park
This annual hot air balloon festival will take place Labor Day weekend in Memorial Park for the 43rd year! More than 70 hot air balloons are expected to participate and with crowds in excess of 150,000+ spectators.
Volunteer Roles: assist with event operations including parking, VIP hospitality, beer garden, etc.
