TrainingPeaks, a global leader in providing smart digital training solutions for athletes and coaches, has added the Women and the Future of Endurance Sports Panel to be hosted at the 2019 Endurance Coaching Summit in Boulder, Colorado.

Having previously been held in Manchester, UK, ECS 2019 returns to Colorado on September 18-20, 2019.

The all-women panel will discuss topics, such as the history of women in endurance sports; how women athletes are represented in television and social media; and bringing equity into the gender pay gap.

Panel members include Dr Sara Gross, Junko Kazukawa, Laurie Nakauchi and Alison Powers. TrainingPeaks worked in partnership with the Outspoken Summit team in order to ‘highlight the persistent barriers facing women in endurance sports and selecting the panellists for discussion.’

“It is often assumed that what works for men will work for athletes of all other genders,” said Dr Lisa Ingarfield, Co-Founder of Outspoken: Women in Triathlon. “This has led to women’s needs in coaching and training being ignored and the barriers to entry they face overlooked.

“TrainingPeaks’ efforts this year to be more inclusive of women, tapping their expertise and wisdom, is a definite step in the right direction. We are excited to be a part of the change.”

TrainingPeaks co-founder and Chief Evangelist, Dirk Friel added, “One of the main objectives of ECS is to bring together industry leaders to have thoughtful conversations and inspire progressive dialogue. This year, we’re excited to introduce our first all-women panel to explore how women are influencing endurance sports, and how this will shape the future of our industry.”

ECS will also offer the opportunity to attend roundtable discussions and breakout sessions highlighting women in endurance sports. These included:

  • Adolescent Female Athletes: Approaches to Building Mental Toughness with Joanna Zeiger;
  • Diversity and Inclusion in Endurance Sport with Sara Gross and Lisa Ingarfield; and
  • The Female Athlete: Think Performance, not Pathophysiology with keynote speaker Stacy Sims.

TrainingPeaks notes that the Endurance Coaching Summit (ECS) unites the world’s top endurance coaches, thought leaders and business experts in an annual gathering. The two-day clinic explores a variety of topics designed to help coaches successfully grow their business, learn the latest in science-based training techniques, and expand their coaching network.

ECS features renowned keynote speakers, round table discussions, a partner expo, group workshops, access to online recorded sessions, and the opportunity to bundle with TrainingPeaks University.
