Vail’s GoPro Mountain Games return this summer. The mountain sports festival, June 9-12, is expanding for its 15th year in Vail, kicking off the Vail Valley’s summer season with paddling, climbing, biking, running, fishing and slacklining contests.

GoPro is returning as title sponsor.

The GoPro Mountain Games offers a deep prize purse, luring top athletes in kayaking, stand-up paddling, trail running, mountain biking, slacklining and World Cup bouldering. This year the festival includes expanded contests for the public, with the Vail Pass half marathon, 5k and 10k trail runs, a mud run and yoga sessions with Sweden’s “Yoga Girl” Rachel Brathen.

Camera maker GoPro will return as the title sponsor of Vail’s GoPro Mountain Games, which mark one of the Vail Valley’s busiest weekend with more than 60,000 spectators.

Camera juggernaut GoPro stepped up a title sponsor of the Mountain Games in 2013, replacing shoe maker Teva, which supported the mountain sports gathering for 11 years. The event, owned by the Vail Valley Foundation, has grown from a handful of kayaking contests into a four-day sports and music festival, with 2,500 athletes competing in 25 different competitions and nightly concerts. The GoPro Mountain Games weekend regularly draws more than 60,000 visitors, marking one of the Vail Valley’s busiest summer weekends.
