The Connecticut Sports Management Group, Inc. (CSMG) has announced that Richard Plasky of Naugatuck, Conn. will be its new Executive Director, effective April 8, 2022. Plasky, the organization’s current Director of Operations, will assume the leadership from Patrick T. Fisher, who is resigning after 12 years in that position. Fisher, who has been with CSMG for more than 20 years, will remain its Executive Director through mid-April to assist with the transition of the job’s wide range of responsibilities. This includes the management of the two largest amateur, multi-sport, Olympic-style sporting events in Connecticut: The Nutmeg State Games and The Connecticut Masters’ Games.
“I am extremely grateful to have been part of the Connecticut Sports Management Groupteam for over two decades and have developed long-lasting relationships with so many members of the Connecticut sports management and events family,” explains Patrick T. Fisher. “Rick will continue to fulfill the multiple missions of CSMG as Executive Director with vision toward the future, and I am confident that he will do a tremendous job.” After stepping down as Executive Director, Fisher will remain a member of the CSMG’s Board of Directors and will consult as needed.
Plasky joined the Connecticut Sports Management Group in 2017 as an intern, while completing his undergraduate degree in Sports Management from Springfield College in Springfield, Mass. He was hired full time in January 2019 as the CSMG’s Operations Director, and Manager of The Connecticut Masters’ Games.
“I am appreciative and excited to take on this dynamic leadership opportunity,” Richard Plasky says. “As Executive Director, I look forward to continuing to grow the ‘Games’ and to provide Masters and Youth athletes with opportunities to maintain active and healthy lifestyles while competing in the sports they love.”
