The Army Ten-Miler (ATM) and the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) are pleased to announce that AUSA – the race’s founding sponsor – is now the sole lead sponsor as the event celebrates its 40th anniversary on Sunday, Oct. 13, 2024, at 8:00 a.m. EDT in Washington, DC. General registration is open for the world’s third largest 10-miler, returning to full capacity of 36,000 in-person runners in 2024. The inaugural ATM on Oct. 13, 1985, had 1,379 finishers.

“We are tremendously grateful for AUSA’s long-standing support of the Army’s Race and appreciate the organization stepping up this year to serve as the sole lead sponsor of the 40th Army Ten-Miler,” said Maya Johnson, ATM Deputy Race Director. “As the founding sponsor of the race in 1985, AUSA has remained in a sponsorship role every year. They recognize and help us fulfill our mission to support Army outreach, build morale and promote physical fitness.”

“The Army Ten-Miler is a special race that brings together tens of thousands of people to celebrate the Army and those who serve in it,” said retired Gen. Robert Brown, AUSA president and CEO. “AUSA is proud to be a founding sponsor of the Army Ten-Miler, and this year, as the race marks its 40th anniversary, AUSA is thrilled to be the sole lead sponsor of this fantastic, community-building event.”

Priority registration is now open to ATM Priority Club members (runners who have finished seven or more ATM races, including the 2020 and 2021 virtual versions), and to Active Duty Military, National Guard, Reserve, ROTC and U.S. Service Academy cadets. U.S. Service Members no longer need to use a “.mil” address to register (military status will be verified in-person at the ATM Expo).

General registration opens to all members of the public, including military, ROTC and U.S. Service Academy cadets and the priority club members, at least 13 years old on race day, at 8:00 a.m. EST on Feb. 7.

Registration includes the official, long-sleeve technical race shirt and a finisher medal. Runners may also purchase tickets for the General Dynamics Pasta Dinner for $43 (plus processing fees), returning to the Crystal Gateway Marriott.

In-person race registration transfers are back for registered runners who are not able to use their purchased in-person registration. Runners are responsible for finding their own buyer in order to transfer their registration. Cost is $35. Full details and instructions will be made available on the ATM website.

There is also the ATM In-Person Youth Run, a non-competitive 400m run for children aged 12-and-under. Registered youth runners get to experience the pride of completing an ATM Youth Run and receive a race bib, t-shirt, and medal. ATM Youth Run bibs and shirts must be picked up at the ATM Expo, Oct. 11 and 12 at the DC Armory.

The only ATM packet pick-up location will be at the DC Armory during the two-day ATM Expo on Friday, Oct. 11 and Saturday, Oct. 12. No race packets will be mailed, and there is no packet pick-up on race day.

Registration is now open for the 2024 Virtual Army Ten-Miler Race and offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Registered Virtual Race runners must complete their race between Oct. 13 and Dec. 31, 2024. There will be no transfers from Virtual to In-Person races and vice versa.

New for 2024: ATM is part of the Armed Forces Series Challenge, which involves completing five military races – the Air Force Marathon, Army Ten-Miler, Coast Guard Marathon, Marine Corps Marathon and Space Force T-Minus 10 Miler, held between April and December each year. Runners who complete all five races earn a one-of-a-kind series challenge medal.

Recognized as one of the nation’s premier running events, ATM is the only race that both begins and ends on the Pentagon reservation. With a course that is USA Track and Field certified, flat, and fast, the race is supported by nearly 2,000 volunteers. In addition to the Army’s Race in Washington, DC, official ATM Shadow Run Series are held at a wide array of overseas military installations.
