The US nation’s capital is getting set to host the 10th edition of the United Airlines Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series Washington DC on Saturday, March 26.
The race weekend kicks off on Thursday, March 24 with the Health & Fitness Expo in a new location at Walter E Washington Convention Center, (Hall E).
With the half marathon taking off down the National Mall and throughout downtown DC, before ending in an finish at RFK Stadium, participants will receive a running tour of the district. The 5K event takes place just before the half marathon.
Following both events will be the Encore Entertainment from 08:30 to 13:00 ET. Runners will be greeted by the tunes of local favorite, White Ford Bronco whose lead singer, Gretchen Gustafson, will also be running the half marathon before heading on stage to perform.
32 elite runners from around the world will be vying for a share of the US$10,000 prize purse as well as Elite Beat Rankings (EBR). This is the second race in the brand-new Rock ‘n’ Roll Elite half marathon series, which aims to offer elite runners the opportunity to showcase their talents and profile on a consistent series wide scale.
The recently announced Rock ‘n’ Roll Elite half marathon series will take place across eight North America Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series events. Contested across the half marathon distance, each of the events will offer a prize purse awarded to the top three male and female elite finishers, as well as points toward the Elite Beat Rankings (EBR), earning the opportunity to compete for the bonus pool in the grand finale at the 2023 Rock ‘n’ Roll Las Vegas.
