Gainesville's Newest Track & Field Facility is Up and Running

On Saturday, January 7, a dedication was held for the Jimmy Carnes Track at the new Alachua County Sports and Events Center at Celebration Pointe, in Gainesville, Florida. The late Mr. Carnes was the former University of Florida and Olympic Track and Field Team Coach, and a legend in the profession. The state-of-the-art, indoor track was built in Italy by MONDO, a leading builder of tracks around the world.

The Carnes’ family and many luminaries were on hand to honor Mr. Carnes, and to dedicate the tremendous facility that will bring top notch track and field events to Gainesville.

The facility will first see use from January 13-15 at the Jimmy Carnes Indoor Track & Field Invitational.
