USRowing is pleased to announce that Nathan Benderson Park has been selected to host the 2022 USRowing Youth National Championships. The regatta, which features more than 2,000 rowers racing for medals in up to 43 events, will take place June 9-12 in Sarasota-Bradenton, Fla.
"We are excited to be bringing the USRowing Youth National Championships back to Sarasota-Bradenton and Nathan Benderson Park," said Director of Event Operations James Rawson. "Sarasota did a fabulous job of hosting last year's Youth National Regatta, our first national, in-person regatta since the start of COVID-19, and we look forward to bringing the event back this coming year. The venue offers a great racing experience for everyone and allows us to maximize racing opportunities for our youth rowers and teams."
The nation's premier rowing venue, Nathan Benderson Park has hosted numerous national and international rowing events including the 2019 USRowing Youth National Championships and 2021 USRowing Youth National Regatta. The venue played host to the 2017 World Rowing Championships, 2018 World Rowing Masters Regatta and 2019 World Rowing Under 23 Championships, in addition to the 2016 and 2020 U.S. Olympic Team Trials - Rowing.
"We welcome the rowers, coaches, families and USRowing back to Nathan Benderson Park and the Sarasota-Bradenton area," park President and CEO Stephen V. Rodriguez said. "It is our pleasure and honor to again host the USRowing Youth National Championships and look forward to providing fair racing, beautiful weather, wonderful hospitality and a memorable experience for all."
Earlier this year, Nathan Benderson Park hosted USRowing's first national regatta following cancellations in 2020 due to COVID-19. The 2021 Youth National Regatta was the largest ever, featuring more than 2,700 athletes from 180 clubs.
"We are thrilled to have the nation's top youth rowers and their families return to our community in 2022," said Visit Sarasota County's Director of Sports Shelby Connett. "This is a fantastic event and one that our local businesses, volunteers and partner organizations always look forward to supporting."
