With Opening of New Ball Park, Palm Beach County Adds New Spring Training Facility

Palm Beach County will become the Major League Baseball (MLB) Spring Training capital of Florida when the Ballpark of the Palm Beaches opens on February 28^th. During this historic day, Palm Beach County will become home to four (4) of the 15 teams that compete in Florida’s Grapefruit League. During the MLB spring training baseball season, the Houston Astros and the Washington Nationals will occupy the Ballpark of the Palm Beaches in West Palm Beach while the Miami Marlins and the St. Louis Cardinals will play baseball at Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter. 

For the past 19 years, Roger Dean Stadium has been the only two-team spring training facility in Florida.  This will change in February of 2017 during the inaugural baseball season at the Ballpark of the Palm Beaches.  The brand new Ballpark of the Palm Beaches, which is a $145 million complex that amplifies a fan-centric spring training experience, will become the second two-team facility that exists in Florida.   The combination of Roger Dean Stadium and the Ballpark of the Palm Beaches makes Palm Beach County the premier baseball destination in Florida.

When The Ballpark of the Palm Beaches opens, Houston Astros and Washington Nationals fans will be exposed to the latest in high-end fan experiences. This new stadium will attract vacationing baseball fans during spring training and will be an attraction for the neighboring communities to enjoy.

As fans approach the nearly 8,000 person capacity stadium, they will be greeted by two 30-foot-tall Astros and Nationals logo sculptures and a Grand Plaza with steps leading into the state-of-the-art stadium which is designed to give fans a comfortable experience. The stadium will include an entertaining party deck, six (6) luxury suites, and world class press box amenities.  Game attendees can bring a blanket or lawn chair and watch from the grassy lawn or opt for a more luxurious arrangement in the on-field loge box. The loge box will offer premium cushioned seating and waiter service where they can watch the players up close and personal. The (6) luxury suites that will allow guests to have a true Florida experience as the balconies are set up like an open patio and seats can be moved around. Two additional decks can host up to 100 people for special group or business events.

This impressive stadium allows fans to make their way to the concession stands without missing a minute of the action thanks to the wraparound concourse which is a continuous loop with views of the game. At least 40 percent of the seating will naturally be in the shade and the percentage will increase as the sun’s position changes later in the day.

The Ballpark of the Palm Beaches spans over 160 acres of land.  In addition to the Astros and Nationals’ modernized clubhouses, agility fields, rehabilitation lap pools and practice diamonds, the site also encompasses a 1.8-mile walking trail and 12-acre city park, complete with a playground, green space, lighted basketball courts and pavilions.

In addition to Major League Baseball, the Ballpark of The Palm Beaches will host a variety of sports events.  Including the stadium field, the Ballpark of the Palm Beaches features a total of 13 full size baseball diamonds (both the Nationals and Astros maintain 6 practice fields).  The facility will be capable of hosting some of the largest baseball high school age and collegiate baseball tournaments in the nation.  Additionally, the Ballpark of The Palm Beaches will feature seven (7) multi-purpose fields for sports such as flag and tackle football, soccer, lacrosse, and rugby.  The Ballpark of the Palm Beaches will be a community destination and an ideal spot for amateur sports tournaments.
