Whether you’re celebrating survival or honoring a loved one, the Pan-Florida Challenge Cancer Ride (PFC) welcomes cyclists of all ages and abilities to ride on March 25-26, 2023. Registration is open and cyclists can choose from multiple routes in Naples – including Paradise Coast Sports Complex – and Tampa while getting the lowest registration fees and fundraising goals available for the event.

“We are so excited to open registration for the 2023 ride. Many cyclists have survived cancer or experienced it through a loved one. Hence, the ride is significant, and it’s personally fulfilling to be able to help others whose lives are being impacted by the disease,” Jeri Goetz, executive director at Pan-Florida Challenge, said. “Each year, as we gear up for the event, we are reminded of the importance of our mission and doing all we can to support patients and to help prevent cancer.”

Pan-Florida Challenge is a nonprofit organization that provides nutritious meals to underprivileged and hungry children, as malnutrition has increased the risk of developing cancer. Every dollar raised by the riders directly supports Pan-Florida Challenge’s mission. In addition, Pan-Florida Challenge partners with organizations, such as Moffitt Cancer Center, to fund cancer research and support cancer patients of all ages and their families.

Pan-Florida assists all participating cyclists with reaching and exceeding their fundraising goals. Registration opens on October 1, with Very Early Registration ending on November 15 and Early Registration running through December 15. Rides are designed for cyclists of all skill levels, with routes ranging from 10 to 125 miles. There is a fundraising minimum, but, reduced by half for new riders.

Meet fellow cyclists, volunteers and sponsors at the PFC Kickoff Party on March 24, from 6 - 8:00 p.m., at Paradise Coast Sports Complex. Ten, 30, 62, 100, and 125-mile routes are offered in addition to the PFC Junior, a quarter-mile lap on a sidewalk around the lake that is ideal for trikes and bikes with training wheels and scooters. This will also be the start and end point of the March 25 ride in Naples.

“We are delighted to host the Pan-Florida Challenge at PCSC, supporting their mission and continuing ours to provide a variety of new and exciting events in Collier County,” said Paradise Coast Sports Complex General Manager Adrian Moses.

Those who register for the PFC Junior and the 10 and 30-mile routes will receive a t-shirt, and riders of 62 miles or more will receive a PFC cycling jersey. Cyclists who complete their route will receive a finisher medal. All participants are welcome to celebrate after the ride with live DJ entertainment, giant Jenga, corn hole and other activities. A light breakfast and lunch will be provided.

The Tampa ride offers 10, 30, 62, and 100-mile routes that will start and finish in the Telecom Parkway area. Goetz added, “We’re excited to offer rides in Tampa for the third year. In addition to funding weekend backpack meals, proceeds will benefit Moffitt Cancer Center, and we’re cycling right by one of their buildings!” More information on the Tampa ride will be available in the coming weeks.
