Southwest Florida is now home to one of the greatest sports facilities in the country with the opening of the Paradise Coast Sports Complex over July Fourth Weekend. During the first phase of the complex’s opening, four artificial turf fields are operational. When fully open, the complex will feature 19 full-size artificial turf fields and a 3,500-seat stadium. The entirety of the project will be open by 2021.
As an established destination for youth sports, the new complex will enhance Collier County’s appeal as a year-round tournament and event destination. It will also serve as community facility offering outdoor exercise equipment, a walking/jogging trail, a public field for recreation, as well as food trucks and a bar.
“Sports tourism has always been important for Collier County, and this new facility gives us one of the finest sports complexes in not only the state, but also the country,” said Naples, Marco Island, Everglades CVB Executive Director Jack Wert. “We’ve been told by event organizers the accessibility with Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW), the range of hotels and resorts and breathtaking beaches have always made our area a great destination for sports tourism and we’re confident this state-of-the-art complex will help bring even more tournaments to our destination. This will be a great boost for our local economy, and it will serve as not just a year-round destination for regional and national tournaments but also a gathering place for our local community.”
The inaugural event over the July Fourth holiday weekend was FBU’s Top Gun Showcase, an annual three-day national youth football showcase, that highlights the best middle school and high school student-athletes. Speaking on the day of the complex’s christening, Steve Quinn, the President of FBU and part of the support team that helped bring the sports complex to reality said, “This is a dream come true. We want this complex to be the home of youth football, similar to what Williamsport has for Little League Baseball.”
The facility combines high quality visitor amenities, creative site design and state-of-the-art amateur athletic facilities, including rectangular fields for soccer, lacrosse, rugby, football and flag football, as well as diamond fields for baseball and softball. The Paradise Coast Sports Complex is expected to set a new standard for sports venues throughout the country and will attract youth sports tournaments on a national scale. The $80 million county-owned sports complex is located near Collier Boulevard and Interstate 75 in East Naples and is managed by Sports Force Parks.
