Equestrian Sport Productions (ESP) is hosting six weeks of competition on the main grounds of the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center (PBIEC) in Wellington, FL. The competition began on Tuesday, Nov. 24, and will run through Sunday, Jan. 3. The Palm Beach County Sports Commission (PBCSC) is supporting ESP with its Holiday Series. This showjumping circuit expands Palm Beach County’s equestrian season by six weeks, prior to the start of the legendary Winter Equestrian Festival in January, by inspiring more national and international riders to participate during the months of November and December.
For the first time, the Holiday Series will include two weeks of FEI (Federation Equestre Internationale), the international governing body of equestrian sports, CSI4*-rated Jumper competition. All six shows offer United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) Ranked Grand Prix, United States Hunter Jumper Association (USHJA) Derby, and North American League competitions.
Equestrian sports have led the way in terms of sports event recovery in The Palm Beaches. Social distancing naturally occurs within equestrian competitions, allowing for showjumping events to return efficiently and safely. ESP worked with the USEF, the national governing body equestrian sport, to develop safety protocols to combat the spread of COVID-19. This effort has not only allowed one of Palm Beach County’s largest sports tourism events to return, but it has been adopted by the entire equestrian sports industry.
ESP provided naming rights to the PBCSC for one of the circuit’s premier events. On Saturday, Nov. 28, the Palm Beach County Sports Commission Grand Prix CSI 4* took place in the International Arena at the PBIEC. This event awarded $214,000 in prize money to the showjumping champion.
The Holiday Series provides a significant boost to Palm Beach County’s economy. The horse-related businesses and hospitality industry in The Palm Beaches will receive a major economic benefit from these six weeks of equestrian sports. The tourism impact will be robust due to the month-long stay and competition required by the series’ participants.
Make your stall reservations and send in your electronic entries today for the ESP Holiday Series. Further information regarding COVID-19 protocols and additional guidelines will be announced soon. For more information, visit www.PBIEC.com.
