The PGA TOUR announced that The Coca-Cola Company (NYSE: KO) has renewed its relationship as Proud Partner of the TOUR Championship in an agreement that extends through the 2027 tournament. In addition, the global beverage provider has signed a new five-year Official Marketing Partnership with the PGA TOUR that sees Coca-Cola return as the Official Soft Drink of the PGA TOUR.
“The PGA TOUR is delighted to continue our partnership with The Coca-Cola Company, which has played a crucial role in the growth of the TOUR Championship and how we impact the tournament’s proud Atlanta home,” said Brian Oliver, PGA TOUR Executive Vice President, Corporate Partnerships. “We look forward to building upon our relationship with Coke as the Official Soft Drink of the PGA TOUR as we proudly serve their products at many of our tournaments and TPC properties, and work with them to utilize golf as a platform to create meaningful change in its community in Metro Atlanta and beyond.”
The TOUR Championship returns to Atlanta and historic East Lake Golf Club, August 23-27, to crown the season’s FedExCup champion. Coca-Cola has supported the TOUR Championship since 2002; it served as the tournament’s presenting sponsor from 2002-2015 before joining Southern Company as a Proud Partner of the TOUR Championship in 2016, and the 2022 addition of Accenture. Coca-Cola’s involvement has played a pivotal role in the TOUR Championship’s all-time charitable contribution of more than $48 million, including a record $5.5 million donation from the 2022 tournament.
“We’re proud to continue our support of the TOUR Championship and its positive impact on our hometown Atlanta community,” said John Murphy, President and Chief Financial Officer of The Coca-Cola Company. “For more than two decades, Coca-Cola, the PGA TOUR and fellow corporate partners have proudly built upon the legacy of East Lake Foundation founder, Tom Cousins.”
Coca-Cola was instrumental in the creation of the TOUR Championship Charity Challenge, a nine-hole exhibition that was established in 2020 and contested for three years to raise additional funds for the East Lake Foundation and the TOUR Championship’s other charitable partners during the COVID-19 pandemic. Notable celebrity athletes teamed up with PGA TOUR professionals, First Tee – Metro Atlanta participants and HBCU student athletes on Wednesday of the TOUR Championship with the goal of giving back to the Atlanta community through a one-of-a-kind showcase. The 2022 TOUR Championship Charity Challenge generated more than $1.3 million in addition to the tournament’s record-setting $5.5 million donation.
In 2023 and beyond, the tournament will continue working alongside Coca-Cola to host the Charity Showcase in conjunction with TOUR Championship Media Day.
“Coca-Cola is a brand that is synonymous with Atlanta, and to have had them associated with the TOUR Championship for more than two decades has significantly elevated the tournament’s stature within Atlanta’s sports landscape,” said TOUR Championship Executive Director Alex Urban. “With their continued support as a Proud Partner, it opens the door to new and exciting opportunities for us to continue building the reputation of this event while ensuring our impact in the local community remains a priority.”
