WHAT: 2022 Travel Unity Summit Southeast. This is the first and only event of its kind in the Southeast, and is representative of growing initiatives in the U.S. The Summit will focus on tactics to help destination marketers, members of the travel industry and economic development professionals incorporate diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) into their own organization’s strategic planning and implementation. This year marks the first time a Travel Unity Summit has been held outside of the organization’s home state of New York.
WHO: Explore Brookhaven, the destination marketing organization for Brookhaven, Georgia, will welcome 200 summit attendees to the area for the Travel Unity Summit Southeast. Among the organizations supporting and participating in the event are the Southeast Tourism Society, the Georgia Association of Convention and Visitors Bureaus (CVBs), the Georgia Department of Economic Development, the Alabama Tourism Department, the Louisiana Association of Convention and Visitors Bureaus, the Louisiana Travel Association, the Mississippi Tourism Association and many more. Among those presenting and sharing best practices are leaders from Explore Brookhaven, the City of Atlanta, the Gilmer County Chamber of Commerce (Ellijay), Visit Henry County, GA, as well as early adopters from CVBs such as Visit Macon, Georgia, the Lake Charles Convention and Visitors Bureau (Louisiana), Charlottesville Albemarle Convention & Visitors Bureau, Richmond Region Tourism (both Virginia), the University of North Florida LGBTQ Center and more.
