Officials of the Mitsubishi Electric Classic announced the return of the Georgia United Credit Union Executive Women’s Day, a daylong celebration of the power and accomplishments of women in metro Atlanta on Monday, April 10, 2017. The event, beginning at the Infinite Energy Forum in Duluth, will kick off the fifth playing of the prestigious PGA TOUR Champions tournament hosted annually at the renowned TPC Sugarloaf golf course. Georgia United Credit Union Executive Women’s Day will begin with a panel discussion featuring Cynthia Gore, chief people officer for Georgia United Credit Union, Kim Shreckengost, chief operating officer of The John Maxwell Company and Joni Taylor, head women’s basketball coach for the University of Georgia. Sandra Golden, co-host of 680 The Fan’s “The Front Row” will moderate. Following the panel, innovative nonprofit leader, author and motivational speaker Molly Barker will deliver the keynote speech, sponsored by Infiniti of Gwinnett.
Attendees also will be taken to TPC Sugarloaf where they will engage in two interactive breakout sessions: PGA TOUR 101 and GOLF 101. To conclude the day, attendees will gather for Wine Down, a networking event sponsored by Primerica.
Molly Barker is a positive role model for people of all ages. She started Girls on the Run in 1996, a program to help young girls embrace their individual strengths and successfully navigate life experiences. Girls on the Run has reached more than one million girls and has chapters in more than 220 cities. Barker never rests. After attempting to retire three years ago, she instead founded The Red Boot Coalition, a nonprofit that is taking the message of compassionate listening nationwide. In less than two years, The Red Boot Coalition has grown from one meeting location in Charlotte, NC to nearly a dozen cities across the nation.
Cynthia Gore leads and administers human resources strategy, talent acquisition, training and development, employee compensation and benefits for Georgia United Credit Union. She is an industry leader with more than 20 years of experience in all areas of human resources. Prior to working with Georgia United, Gore worked for HealthCare Solutions and held senior level human resources roles with United Stationers Supply, Inc., The Home Depot and Ulanji, Inc. Gore is a graduate of Coastal Carolina University where she earned a degree in Management and is a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR).
Kim Shreckengost oversees day-to-day operations of The John Maxwell Company, including process, accountability, synergy and execution for John Maxwell’s enterprise, which includes The John Maxwell Company, The John Maxwell Team, EQUIP Leadership and The John Maxwell Leadership Foundation. Prior to joining The John Maxwell Company, Shreckengost was executive vice president — chief administrative officer of AMB Group, the parent company of the Atlanta Falcons, Atlanta United FC, PGA TOUR Superstore and Mountain Sky Guest Ranch, an upscale guest ranch in Montana. She was responsible for public relations and human resources at the Falcons and held similar responsibilities at AMB Group and The Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation.
In 2015, Joni Taylor became the second women’s head basketball coach for the University of Georgia. In her first season at the helm, she led the Georgia Lady Basketball program back to the NCAA Tournament for the 32nd time in school history. Taylor was honored for her successful first year as head coach, earning the WBCA Maggie Nixon NCAA National Rookie Coach of the Year Award, the Atlanta Tipoff Club's Whack Hyder College Coach of the Year Award and the Advocates for Athletic Equity Rookie Coach of the Year honor.
