Rev3 Adventure has been selected to host the USARA National Championship in 2016.
Troy Farrar of the U.S. Adventure Racing Association (USARA) states that the 75,000 acres of access in Columbia County, Georgia offer the perfect location and backdrop to produce this event. “It’s considered the perfect storm in the adventure racing community when you get a great body of water like Clark Hill Lake for your paddle section and a well-established mountain bike trail system with the Bartram Trail,” he added.
“We are thrilled that Columbia County was chosen to host the USARA National Championship,” said Randy DuTeau, of the Columbia County Convention and Visitors Bureau. “This type of event really highlights the wide range of outdoor activities that Columbia County offers residents and visitors.”
Rev3 Adventure will design an event for teams of three people to race for 24 hours straight. The race company has the added benefit of hosting a new race series there November 7-8, 2015: the Bartram’s Wildwood Adventure Weekend. This gives an excellent opportunity to scout out local features for the national championship event in 2016.
Teams earn their spot at the USARA nationals by competing in regional qualifying adventure races across the United States. “Participants will race over 100 miles trying to find different checkpoints either by paddling, trekking and orienteering with a compass, or mountain biking,” said Mike Spiller, Rev3 Adventure race director, “and as with all adventure races, the teams will not know their route and mode of travel until they check in at the race location the night before it starts.”
This year’s USARA National Championship race takes place October 1-3, 2015.
