Due to high demand, ITU World Triathlon Grand Final Chicago is pleased to announce the addition of the Open Age-Group Standard (Olympic-Distance) Race to the schedule of events. The race will take place at 6:30 a.m. CT on Saturday, Sept. 19, in conjunction with the previously scheduled Open Age-Group Sprint Race.
Athletes will compete on a 1,500-meter swim, 40-kilometer bike, 10-kilometer run course through Chicago's downtown area and ending at Buckingham Fountain with the same finish chute set to be used in the age-group, paratriathlon and elite World Championship races. Click here to view the course map.
Registration for the standard race, which costs $195, is open now at active.com. Online registration will be open until 11:59 p.m. CT on Friday, Sept. 11, and on-site registration will be available on Tuesday, Sept. 15 from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. CT. The on-site cost for the standard race will be $220, pending available spots. More information on registration for the Open Age-Group Races is available at chicago.triathlon.org/registration.
Athletes who have already registered for the Open Age-Group Sprint Race and are interested in switching to the Standard may do so prior to 11:59 p.m. CT on Wednesday, Aug. 26. Interested participants who would like to switch race distances should follow these steps:

You will need to re-enter your emergency contact information, USA Triathlon membership information and sign the waiver
You will be charged the race fee difference of $45

About the ITU World Triathlon Grand Final Chicago: The City of Chicago joined the ITU World Triathlon Series in 2014 and will host the 2015 ITU World Triathlon Grand Final and World Championships in September 2015. Chicago will welcome 150 of the world's top Olympic-distance triathletes as they compete for a world championship title less than a year prior to the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympic Games.
