On Monday afternoon (November 18th), the Canadian Curling Friendship Tour, known as the Can Am Cup, will be visiting the Fort Wayne Curling Club.
In 2019, USA Curling and Curling Canada created a new friendship tour, similar to the Scot Tour, a friendship tour with Scotland that is nearly 75 years old. In 2019, the Can Am Cup was created and U.S. Tourists visited Canada that same year. Now, the first Canadian tour is making its way through the United States.
The Canadian Tour includes curlers from the provinces of New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, Quebec, Ontario, Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia and even the Northwest Territories!
The Tour arrived in the United States on November 2nd and has visited St. Paul and Duluth Minnesota, Eau Claire, Medford, Plover, Wausau, Madison and Wauwatosa Wisconsin, and Chicago, Illinois so far.
The visit to Fort Wayne is its only stop in Indiana. In the spirit of friendship, the Fort Wayne Curling Club has asked the Circle City (Indianapolis) Curling Club to participate on Monday as well. So three teams from Fort Wayne and one team from Indianapolis will face off against the Canadians.
The tentative schedule is:
1:00 pm - Arrival where the Tourist will be piped into the club
2:00 pm - Game time
4:00 pm - Post-game cocktails
6:30 pm - House party at the home of the FWCC Club President
After the stop in Fort Wayne, the Tour will drive up to Detroit, visit the Henry Ford Museum, play against the Detroit Curling Club and have its closing banquet before heading home on Wednesday.
