Here's a quick look back at a record-setting 2023 for sports around The Bend and a glimpse of what is ahead.
Our destination hosted a record 91 youth and amateur events last year. They accounted for over 42,000 room nights and an estimated $27.4 million in economic impact. Both are all-time highs. As we look ahead to the rest of 2024, here are some notable events to keep in mind.
Postal Federal Employee National Bowling Tournament: Taking place now through June at Chippewa Bowl in South Bend, the PFENBA tournament will bring hundreds of participants competing in different divisions. It's the first time since 1980 the tournament will be held in South Bend.
NGA Gymnastics Midwest Regional Zones Championships: This will be the first gymnastics event held at Compton Family Ice Arena. More than 1,000 gymnasts from around the Midwest are expected from May 9-12.
1 After 7 Top 50 Showcase: More than 140 teams will descend on the region June 14-16 for this tournament. Melissa Cook Stadium at Notre Dame and Byers Softball Complex in South Bend will host along with facilities in Elkhart and Edwardsburg, Mich.
NASPA Scrabble Players Championship: Century Center will host around 400 Scrabble players from around the world July 20-24 to compete for this prestigious title.
