The Bands of America Grand National Championships is the “super bowl” of marching bands! The 42nd annual Grand National Championships will feature 100 competing bands from 23 states, including 12 from Indiana and 10 past Grand National Champions.
The four-day event kicked off with the Indianapolis Marching Band Tournament on Wednesday evening, November 8. One hundred bands compete in two days of preliminary competition Friday and Saturday, with Semi-Finalists advancing to perform on Saturday.
The top 12 bands then compete in Saturday evening’s Finals starting at approximately 8 pm, for the title of Grand National Champion. The event also features more than 100 booths in the Expo in Lucas Oil Stadium, a student leadership workshop, and exhibition performances by The University of Alabama Million Dollar Band, The Bowling Green State University Falcon Marching Band, and the Marian University Marching Knights.
