Runners and walkers will Toe the Line for Bix 49 this July, filling the streets of Davenport, for the Quad-City Times Bix 7. The 49th annual race will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2023.
Michelle Juehring, race director, announced that the tagline Run with the Best will have new meaning this summer. Bix will serve as the USATF’s Men’s and Women’s American National 7-Mile Championships in 2023. This will be the 6th time in race history that the Quad Cities will host the championships. Walkers and runners alike will race the same streets as American Olympic hopefuls on our out-and-back course. With the summer Olympics in 2024, it’s very likely that the same runners we see in Davenport will be competing in the trials next year.
Total prize purse for the 7-mile race is $67,500. American elite runners will be competing for $50,000 in prize money. An additional $17,500 in prize money will be up for grabs through our Caesars Sportsbook Teams Competition, Buick GMC Dealers First Responders & High School Challenge, and our Russell Beat the Elite race.
A new offering this year is personalized race bibs. For the first time in race history, seven and two mile participants have the opportunity to add their name to their race bib.
In addition to hosting the 7-Mile Championship, the Quad-City Times Bix 7 has become the newest member of the Professional Road Racing Organization (PRRO) Circuit and will serve as the third stop on the organization’s 2023-2024 circuit. The PRRO Circuit consists of America’s Classic Road Races – events with a long history of providing prize money for elite athletes and serving as bucket list races for others. Fellow PRRO Circuit events include the Credit Union Cherry Blossom 10 Mile in Washington, DC; the Lilac Bloomsday Run 12K in Spokane, WA, and Boilermaker 15K in Utica, NY.
Race weekend starts Thursday, July 27 with the Genesis Sports Medicine Brady Street Sprints, followed by the Arconic Jr Bix kids race on Friday, July 28, and the Saturday’s Quad-City Times Bix 7 and Prairie Farms Quick Bix 2-mile. Virtual race options are available for the 7-mile, 2-mile, and Jr Bix, as well as the ability to ‘switch’ race categories between in-person and virtual events.
The Quad-City Times Bix 7 is a fun, family event where you can run or walk with the best – right here in the Midwest. Register today and join us Saturday, July 29, when we will Toe the Line for Bix 49! www.Bix7.com
