New independent research from Tourism Economics demonstrates how visitors and tourism are driving economic growth in Overland Park, Kansas. The comprehensive report reveals that the 4.7 million visitors to Overland Park in 2022 generated:
- 7,843 direct tourism-related jobs in Overland Park.
- $852 million in direct business sales including lodging, food, beverage, recreation, entertainment and transportation, growing $100 million—19.5%--compared to 2021.
$95 million in state and local taxes.
Visitor spending in Overland Park surpassed pre-pandemic levels in 2022.

"We welcomed 12% more visitors in 2022 and they spent approximately $183 per person, a seven percent increase from the previous year. While these results are fantastic, we must continue to compete with other communities to expand our position as a great place to visit, live and work.”
