Mainers who have fond memories of seeing golf’s greatest stars play in our region won’t have to wait much longer for more PGA Tour action. On June 24-27, 2021 the Live + Work in Maine Open, a PGA Korn Ferry Tour event, will feature 156 of the top rising players vying for a $600,000 prize purse at Falmouth Country Club.
Considering the star power of recent alumni from the Korn Ferry Tour -- Bryson DeChambeau (class of 2016), Justin Thomas (class of 2014) and Jason Day (class of 2007) just to name a few -- we are sure to preview the next chapter of PGA Tour champions.
In 2013, the Korn Ferry Tour became The Path to the PGA TOUR with all 50 available PGA TOUR cards coming through the Tour and the season culminating at the Korn Ferry Tour Finals. Korn Ferry Tour alumni have won more than 500 PGA TOUR titles, including 23 major championships and eight PLAYERS Championships.
This season marks the 30th year of competition on the Korn Ferry Tour. Some of you may recall the New England Classic, then part of the inaugural Ben Hogan Tour, won by Brandel Chamblee in 1990 at The Woodlands. Deane Beman, PGA Tour Commissioner at the time, was the founder of the Ben Hogan Tour. Beman, who now Summers in Maine, has joined the Live + Work in Maine Open as an Honorary Chairman.
While the Korn Ferry Tour delivers a powerful player roster, the Live + Work in Maine Open is much more than a star studded golf tournament. Event organizers, led by Live + Work in Maine Open management, marketing and operations agency Shamrock Sports & Entertainment, plan to deliver priceless experiences to fans while driving economic, community, charitable and workforce attraction to our state.
Thanks to the support of Corporate Partners MaineHealth, Bangor Savings, Anthem and others, the Live + Work in Maine Open will deliver over $100,000 in charitable giving to the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital each year in a five year agreement with PGA Tour to bring Korn Ferry Tour action to Maine. Other collaborations with award winning culinary chefs and craft brewers for Bites & Brews events as well as special LIVE entertainment performances are sure to make the Live + Work in Maine Open an epic event for people of all ages.
Due to extensive planning in partnership with PGA Tour, CDC, Town of Falmouth and other authorities, the Live + Work in Maine Open will deliver a fun, safe and memorable experience leveraging the vast footprint of beautiful Falmouth Country Club.
