The Maine Sports Commission has announced a multisport benefit event, the Dempsey Challenge presented by Amgen. The event is a run, walk and cycle fundraising experience for The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing in Lewiston, Maine.
The event will be presented Sept. 27-28, 2014.
One-hundred percent of funds raised by Dempsey Challenge participants directly benefits the Dempsey Center, allowing us to provide free support, education and integrative medicine services to anyone impacted by cancer.
Comprised of various cycling distances (10, 25, 50, 70 and 100 miles), and a 5K (3.1 mile) and 10K (6.2 mile) run/walk, participants 18 and over are required to raise $150 (and encouraged to raise even more!) as they prepare for the Dempsey Challenge. More than just a fundraising event, the Dempsey Challenge also includes a free, family-friendly Festival in the Park, Kids’ Fun Run, Survivor Walk and community celebration.
This weekend of hope and camaraderie integrates the passion and support of the cancer community with the hospitality of the Lewiston/Auburn community, while providing a rewarding experience and unprecedented value to all participants and partners.
