Maine to Host National Collegiate Roller Hockey Association (NCRHA) Championships

The unusually long process to welcome the National Collegiate Roller Hockey Association (NCRHA) Championships to the Norway Savings Arena, Auburn, April 17-22, 2024, emphasizes the importance relationship building and collaboration play in landing a bid.

In 2010, while attending the first sports tourism trade show on behalf of Maine, MSC's Strategic Director invited Rob Coggin, NCRHA Director of League Operations, to consider Maine as a destination. Communication and meetings continued; 2020 interrupted their Board's plan to host an annual meeting in Auburn, yet, our local organizing committee persevered. The Board met in Auburn in 2022, where they were hosted to tours and regional excursions, leaving with a positive impression of their host community. An announcement was made soon afterward the Norway Savings Arena was selected!

Maine's only twin-sheet venue was selected due to the top-level proposal presented and hospitality shown by Marc Gosselin, Executive Director, Community Partnerships and Sports Tourism, Auburn, member of the MSC Board of Directors, along with with support from operations personnel at the Arena. Attracting dozens of teams from around the nation, the NCRHA Championships will be a win for the region!
